Chapter XV, Reading 10

"Your words telling of your need to keep your identity a secret were not predictions or abstractions. You have already faced the dangers of the Nameless Ones - haven't you?" Kalmyk asked with the concern of a loyal officer.
"Yes," Flindra answered simply. "My life has been at risk and will assuredly be again."
"How may we help you?"
"I have certain tasks the Spirit has placed in my hands. For the moment, you will serve me best by allowing things to continue as they were before. I would like to continue serving as your scout."
"Your Highness, I can't possibly allow things to continue as before. You're putting your life in danger as my scout. Your life is simply too valuable. I can't allow you to risk yourself in this manner."
"The decision is really not yours to make. You can refuse to allow me to continue my service with you. You can't keep me from helping Prince Storos in some other manner. It is part of my destiny."
"Why risk yourself helping the Prince? There are others to serve in his fight," Kalmyk protested.
"I have abilities that I can put to use in his service. It is essential that he gain his crown." Flindra could tell that Kalmyk was unconvinced by her arguments. She wanted to have him understand. It would make her life simpler.
