Chapter XV, Reading 8

Kalmyk nodded his head in acceptance as he sheathed his sword. "Your Highness, I must ask you to forgive me for forcing your secret into the open. Forgive me for prying into your affairs."
"Lieutenant Kalmyk, you have no cause to ask for forgiveness. You were well within your rights to demand the truth from me." She cloaked her identity once more in the power shield. She was again a simple woodsman's daughter.
"I'll now answer the rest of your questions. I have certain tools available to me as the Heir of King Meldh. I have used these to help our efforts."
Kalmyk poured three cups of wine and handed one to Flindra and one to Leitho. "I have many questions," he said as he sat in a chair behind a table. He motioned with a hand, and Leitho pulled two chairs forward and both he and Flindra sat. "You have a remarkable knowledge of the land," Kalmyk observed as he looked at her. "You know more than can be explained by your being a woodsman's daughter. Do you mind explaining just how?"
She smiled. "Some of my knowledge comes from my foster father, who really was a woodsman." She paused and scratched her head. "The rest is going to be difficult to explain."
"Try me," Kalmyk replied. "If I don't understand I can always ask questions."
"Much information comes to me from the memories of all those in my line."
"You mean to say that you can draw upon the information of your ancestors?"
Flindra nodded her head. "Queen Kwenth knew some of the secrets of the Ancients. She was able to give me the ability to utilize the knowledge of all those who came before me. She hoped this would aid my fight."
