She awoke at the sound of footsteps against the wood. She wondered just how long she had slept - an hour or a day. The door slammed open and several men entered. Flindra was again jerked roughly to her feet. She had a tough time standing on her numb feet.
"Here are your prisoners Lord Vetlok. I'm afraid someone hit the Ranger a bit hard - scrambled his brains overmuch. But, the girl should be able to give some information," narrated a lean man with a mustache.
Flindra tried to keep her eyes unfocused as if she weren't capable of understanding the conversation around her. She was, in reality, taking in everything. When the men entered the room, she had sensed a profound evil. She was now attempting to pinpoint the source.
The man addressed as Lord Vetlok walked over to Flindra. He grabbed her by the hair and tipped her head to force her to look into his eyes.
This was the evil! Flindra silently gasped in horror at his touch. His contact with the protective aura immediately named him for what he was - she knew him to be an agent of the Ansu! She could feel a ripple of response in the energy shield as it increased the power level. Rigga burned hot against her finger for here was the enemy it was destined to fight.
Challenge reflected through her one open eye.
"You show no fear," Vetlok observed with bitter amusement. "We'll have to change that situation. You'll know fear before I'm through with you."
Rough laughter punctuated his comment.
"Bring her," he commanded as he left the room.
Flindra was pulled by several pairs of hands into a well-lit room and stuffed into a hard wooden chair. A heavy rope was wrapped around both her and the chair.
